The holy Paryushan festival will be celebrated from August 31, 2024. The sacred event holds a religious significance for Jains. This event of spiritual reflection inspires the Jain community to seek forgiveness and continue their journey to self-purification. Chef Aruna Vijay curated a special meal plan and shared numerous options for Paryushan.
Here’s All About Chef Aruna Vijay’s Paryushan Meal Plan
Day 1’s Option 1:
- Chef suggests pancakes, soaked nuts, and kesar doodh for breakfast.
- The first option for lunch is papad churi paratha, podi rice, and chilla raita.
- For dinner, the menu has dahi puri and rajma rice burrito.
Option 2:
- The choices for breakfast are idli with dry coconut chutney or a serving of yoghurt with granola.
- For lunch, Chef Aruna Vijay shares a meal plan of roti with white matar sabzi, and mogar sabzi. Other options are curd rice or garam dahi.
- Lastly, she suggests dosa, tiffin sambar, and hummus with khakra for dinner.
Option 3:
- For breakfast, she recommends besan cheela with dry coconut chutney.
- For lunch, savour roti, gatte ki sabzi, gatte ka pulao, and boondi raita.
- The dinner menu consists of paneer bhurji wraps with homemade mayonnaise and either masala doodh or cold coffee.

Day 2’s Option 1:
- Chia pudding and date milkshake for breakfast.
- Jawar khichdi, jaggery paratha, and yellow moong dal soup for lunch.
- Sev puri and paneer ravioli in white sauce for dinner.
Option 2:
- For breakfast, the choices are bajri kheech, moong khakra, and kheechu.
- Daal baati churma and dahi semiya for lunch.
- End the night with kadhi chawal, papad churi, and aglio olio for dinner.
Option 3:
- The last option for the second day has idli batter khaman and daliya with milk for breakfast.
- Chole, puri, jeera rice, and panchmel daal for lunch.
- And for dinner, the dishes are white sauce pasta, rajma pulao, and high-protein kala channa dosa.
Day 3’s Option 1:
- For the third day of Paryushan, Chef Aruna Vijay shared a special meal plan. The first option for breakfast is waffles with chocolate sauce.
- For lunch, there are choices of besan pudi and paneer fried rice.
- And for dinner, the menu features paneer rice paper rolls and cheese paratha made with homemade cheese.
Option 2:
- Breakfast options are kasuri methi thepla and podi idly.
- For lunch, there are roti, pithod sabzi, mitha chawal, and dahi vada.
- And for dinner, the menu has panner momos, besan paratha, and paneer tikka.
Option 3:
- The breakfast meal plan features moong dal dosa, peanut chutney, and lapsi.
- Next, there are roti, ker sangri, curd rice, and shrikand for lunch.
- And for dinner, the options are dal pakwan, khichdi khadi, and chawal pudi.
Meal Plans For Day 5 & 6
Day 4’s Option 1:
- Ragi choco bomb and dry fruit milkshake are added for breakfast options.
- For lunch, the meal plan choices are rajma paneer pulao, boondi raita, and fryums.
- For dinner, there are khandvi bites, moong and sangri tacos, and almond soup.
Option 2:
- The breakfast options are chawal dhokla and rava dosa.
- For lunch, there are puranpoli and aamti tamarind rice.
- For dinner, the choices are daal dhokli, katori chaat, daal shorba, and paneer tawa pulao.
Option 3:
- For the third option, the breakfast choices are poha, kadai masala pudi, and dahi.
- For lunch, there are roti, dried green peas sabzi, and mogar daal chawal.
- The dinner menu features paneer paratha, rava idli, chutney, and bhel puri.
Day 5’s Option 1:
- Ragi rava dosa, sukhi chutney, and rose milk are added for breakfast.
- Tawa pudi, chawal kheer, and chana daal pulao for lunch.
- For dinner, there are thatte idli, paneer chole tikki, and fried roti chaat.
Option 2:
- Ker, besan methi, upma chutney, and gud ka sira are for option 2 breakfast.
- The lunch choices are roti, matki daal kadhi, sabzi, and semiya kheer.
- Lastly, the dinner options are rajma paneer quesadilla, and pakodi khadi rice.
Option 3:
- The breakfast menu for option 3 features mix daal dosa and chutney.
- The lunch preferences are daal makhni, jeera rice, and urad daal pudi.
- Sambar vada, one-pot rasam rice, khakra, and hung curd dip are for dinner.
Day 6’s Option 1:
- Paryushan menu for day 6 features instant sooji uthappam and namak mirchi pudi for breakfast.
- For lunch, there are oats curd rice, daal dhokli, and lassi.
- And the dinner options are loaded nachos with cheese sauce and paneer tikka frankie.
Option 2:
- Chef Aruna Vijay’s meal plan has podi uthappam and chutney for breakfast.
- There are paneer white gravy, paratha, and curd rice for lunch.
- And for dinner, the dishes mentioned are herbed rice with rajma and white sauce and Bangalore masala poori.
Option 3:
- The breakfast options are makhai ghaat and khaman dhokla.
- For lunch, there are kabuli channa gravy, laccha paratha, and dry fruit pulao.
- The dinner options are papad paneer spring roll, pani puri, rajma cutlet, and Mexican rice.
Paryushan Meal Plan For Day 7
Day 7’s Option 1:
- For the seventh day, the first breakfast option consists of podi dosa and moong dal sira.
- For lunch, there are paneer tikka wrap, channa mogar daal, and rice.
- The menu has Mexican rice, rasam vada, and chawal pudi for dinner.
Option 2:
- The second breakfast option has suji paniyaram and korma pudi.
- For lunch, there are bajri ki roti, pithod ki sabzi, and sev ghatiya sabzi.
- The dinner options are paneer tawa pulao and rajma cutlet.
Option 3:
- The last breakfast option in this meal plan features semiya upma and besan chilla with paneer stuffing.
- For lunch, there are channa dal sabzi, roti, daal chawal, and masala chaas.
- Lastly, dinner options are khichdi khadi and masala pudi.
