The revered Jain monk, Jainacharya Hansratna Suri Maharaj recently ended his fast which was for 180 days. A ceremony was held at the National Sports Club of India or NSCI Dome in Worli. The ceremony was graced by the presence of a number of notable figures including but not limited to the famous actor, Akshay Kumar. The event is widely considered historic because the fast marked the achievement of a number of important milestones.

Akshay Kumar, the famous action hero and Bollywood actor, attended the ceremony which commemorated the ending of the 180-day fast. The fast was held to spread the message of world peace and the ceremony was held on March 31, Sunday.

According to an article which was recently published by the Lokmat Times, this fast was significant as it marked two major milestones. First, it marked a century of fasts that lasted for longer than 30 days at a stretch.

Secondly, this was the revered monk’s seventh fast. For 180 Days from 9 AM to 6 PM, he only consumed boiled water. He was subsequently bestowed with the honorific of “Tapo Ratna Mahodadhi.”

Other Notable Figures Who Attended This Ceremony

As per the Lokmat Times article, Akshay Kumar stated that while we read about history and study it, they were witnessing history that day. He also went on to state that from now on, he will observe every Paryushan festival.

He also stated that tries to fast once a week but his body does not take it well. Nevertheless, he recommended that everyone should undertake fasting for health as well as for spirituality.

Paryushan holds a lot of significance for the Jain religion. Many people follow it to eliminate bad or negative thoughts.
