Recently, Air Arabia announced that it will soon start accepting crypto payments when it comes to flight bookings. Announced by the airline on May 26, Monday, this is a big development, as it has become the first airline in the region to accept crypto payments. And now, Air Arabia has become the first airline to offer stablecoin-based payment.
Air Arabia Announces Payment Through Cryptocurrency
As revealed by the airline, it has become the first in the region to allow the use of crypto payments for booking flights. For this purpose, they have partnered with Al Maryah Community Bank (Mbank), which is the first fully integrated digital bank in the UAE. This allows the use of AE Coin payments for flight bookings. However, it must be done through the AEC Wallet App. Driving the digital first economy in the UAE ahead, AE coin is the UAE’s first AED-backed stablecoin. Pegged 1:1 to the UAE Dirham, it ensures price stability, low transaction fees, and security.
How To Pay Via Crypto Currency?
So with the integration of the future, customers of Air Arabia will be able to select ‘AEC Wallet’ at checkout. They can do so while booking via the Air Arabia website, and through this, they are offered new convenient payment alternatives. As it happens, through the integration of this method, flight bookings will become a lot simpler, making the payment experience for travellers easier. In fact, it also enables a seamless cashless solution, which aligns with the growing digital economy.
So to sum it up, you can basically pay for flight tickets using AE coins. After all, it is basically more or less like a digital dirham, which is expected to see less fluctuation than Bitcoin or Ethereum. This means if you already have AE coins and want to use the same, this might just be the perfect excuse to do so! What do you think about this development related to crypto payments?
