Air India is reeling under yet another pee-gate scandal after the one in 2022. This time, an Indian passenger urinated on a Japanese national on a Delhi-Beijing flight. This incident comes three years after a passenger peed on a woman travelling by business class on an Air India flight. The unfortunate incident raises concerns about flight etiquette.
Air India Hit By Another Pee-Gate Scandal
As per a report by Republic World, a shocking case of a violation of flight etiquette came to light on an Air India flight. On flight AI2336 flying from Delhi to Bangkok, during the flight’s descent to Thailand’s capital, an untoward incident took place. As reported by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), by the airline, a passenger urinated on a fellow passenger onboard.
The internal report filed by Air India, accessed by Republic World, revealed that a passenger, Tushar Masand, seated on seat 2D, urinated on a Japanese national, Hiroshi Yoshizane. The passenger seated in 1D is the Managing Director of Bridgestone India. This is a company specialising in mobility solutions.
Hiroshi immediately alerted the Air India cabin crew. After which, senior crew members Rishika Matre and Sunpreet Singh immediately provided towels and helped him clean up. They also relocated Masand from the area. The crew members escorted Hiroshi to the lavatory to change his clothes. And the captain was informed of the mishap.

Indian Man Urinates On Japanese National
Mathew, another passenger seated in 1F requested Masand to be shifted from the J class cabin due to safety concerns. Masand later repeatedly apologised to Hiroshi. The Japanese national declined to file a formal complaint as he didn’t want to waste his time filing complaints after landing. Meanwhile, the Indian man received a verbal warning and was relocated to 14 C as Mathew refused to sit beside him.

A spokesperson of Air India confirmed the unruly passenger’s behaviour on flight AI2336 from Delhi to Bangkok on April 9, 2025, to media agencies. The crew offered to help the Japanese national to file a complaint with the authorities in Bangkok. But he declined. This incident throws light on yet another pee-gate scandal marring the reputation of Air India.
