Passenger’s ₹1.60 Lakh Stolen From Checked-In Bag On An Air India Flight
An unidentified person is allegedly accused of stealing ₹1.60 lakh from a passenger’s checked bag on an Air India trip from Mumbai to Riyadh on October 21. A case has been filed at the Sahar police station.
The FIR said that Muddassir Shaikh, a 26-year-old resident of Nalasopara who works for a private company, arrived at the Mumbai International Airport on October 7 for a trip to Riyadh for both job and religious reasons. His two blue trolley bags had been checked in since he was travelling with Air India.
One of the bags included a handbag with documents and $1,900 (or ₹1,60,000). His flight took off around 5:30 o’clock. He only got one of his bags when he landed on October 8.
Case Filed
He went to the Air India office in Riyadh and complained about not getting his second luggage, but he allegedly got no response from Air India officials.
On October 10, however, Muddassir was given the lost bag in the Air India’s Riyadh office. He was horrified to discover that his handbag, which contained the US dollars and other documents, was missing when he opened the bag.
On October 19, Muddassir arrived in Mumbai. Two days later, he filed a case under Section 379 of the IPC against an unnamed person.
