The unveiling of the new livery last year ushered in a wave of excitement. Following the 2021 acquisition, Air India’s new management is keen to establish a fresh identity that reflects a modern and progressive approach. The A320neo, a workhorse of the narrowbody category, is now set to be adorned with the new colour scheme, following the A350 fleet.
The aircraft, configured in an all-economy layout, boasts a sleek and contemporary design. The new livery retains elements that resonate with Air India’s heritage but with a modern twist. The dominant colour scheme is expected to be a combination of teal and a contrasting accent, though official details remain under wraps for now.

Interestingly, aviation blogs suggest the aircraft might carry the tail number VT-RTN. It is a subtle tribute to Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group. This would be a fitting acknowledgement of the pivotal role the Tata Group has played in Air India’s revival.
While the engines are yet to be installed, the painted aircraft signifies a crucial step towards delivery, expected sometime in May or June 2024. This development has generated considerable interest among aviation enthusiasts, eager to see the complete transformation of Air India’s fleet.
The arrival of the new A320neo in its revamped livery is more than just a cosmetic change. It represents Air India’s commitment to modernisation and a renewed focus on passenger experience. Air India’s narrowbody fleet will take to the skies with a fresh look and potentially upgraded interiors, poised to do so with newfound vibrancy.
This is just the beginning of Air India’s metamorphosis. More aircrafts receive the new livery and potentially improved passenger offerings are implemented. We can expect to see a revitalised Air India take centre stage in the aviation industry.
