Gujarat was known as a dry state until recently as the state prohibited the manufacturing, storing, selling, and consumption of alcohol ever since it was formed. But now, the Gujarat government lifted this ban in an area. It was on Friday when the government made the major announcement of lifting the ban on the sale and consumption of liquor, but only in a specific city in the state.

The state government made this significant decision for the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, also known as the GIFT City. Clubs, hotels, and restaurants in this city will get permits to sell liquor. A major reason behind lifting the ban is to provide a global business ecosystem. For this new change to come into action, some specific rules and regulations have to be followed strictly. The state prohibition department released a statement stating that the government now permits wine and dine facilities in the GIFT City area.

This area of Gujarat has been established as a financial and technological hub with many economic activities and events. To offer a global business ecosystem to different companies, global investors, and technical experts, the wine and dine facilities have been allowed. Clubs, restaurants, and hotels located in the GIFT City area will receive proper permits for these services as a part of this new system.

Not anyone and everyone can drink alcohol at these places. Under the new rule, clubs, hotels, and restaurants cannot simply sell alcohol to all. People employed officially in the GIFT City area and also their official guests will be able to visit such establishments and experience the wine and dine facilities.
