Karnataka’s Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced a historical project in the state. He said that the Karnataka government is all set to construct India’s first marina in Byndoor, in the Udupi district. This project will be instrumental in promoting coastal tourism in the state, and the CM has promised to extend all his support and cooperation for the same. Here is everything you need to know about India’s first marina.
India’s First Marina In Byndoor
In Udupi district’s Byndoor, the Karnataka government will construct the nation’s first marina, or a boat basin offering dockage. A marina is a recreational area created specifically for yachts and small boats. Both active and passive recreational activities are offered here.
The Karnataka Tourism Department hosted a ceremony when the Seven Wonders of Karnataka program was unveiled. The unveiling was done by the chief minister himself, where he announced this new development and spoke about tourism in the state.
In order to promote beach tourism and pilgrimage tourism in coastal areas, the government will also ask the Centre for the Relaxation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) for authorization.

On April 1, @VisitUdupi replied to Harsh Goenka’s prank of inviting people on his new superyacht, with an image of the soon-to-be developed marina.
The Someshwara Beach area in Byndoor has not seen any developmental activity, resulting in poor revenue collection. The development of a marina here will surely boost coastal tourism, generate employment opportunities, and increase tax collection.
The Department of Archaeology will be used by the government to compile the histories of the major dynasties, including the Ganga, Kadamba, Rashtrakoota, Chalukya, and Hoysala, and to create a history of tourism in the state. Not only will this promote tourism, but it will also increase public awareness of the state’s rich heritage.
According to Bommai, the government wants to encourage “Yatra tourism” by constructing a corridor connecting several historic temples, such as Madhukeshwara in Banavasi and Dattatreya in Gangapur.
He praised Kannada Prabha and Suvarna News for discovering Karnataka’s seven wonders.
