Studying abroad, especially in the USA, is the dream of many young students. However, the recent curbs and uncertainties around international students across US universities have raised concerns. Especially after the US government revoked Harvard University’s international student certification. Keeping the difficult situation in mind, Japan has stepped up and asked its universities to admit displaced students. This has made many experts question whether Japan and Asia have become the go-to global destinations for international students.
Is Japan & Asia, In General, The New Go-To Place For Students?
Amid the growing turmoil and new curbs for international students, many Asian universities have stepped up to welcome students hoping to study abroad. With the internationalisation of universities, improved infrastructure, and quality of education, Asian universities, especially in Hong Kong and Japan, are actively catching the attention of international students.
According to The Times of India, with initiatives like Global 30 and Top Global University Project, Japan is enhancing the globalisation of its universities and aiming to make them more accessible to international students. Furthermore, Japan’s Ministry of Education has also urged its universities to take steps to welcome and admit misplaced students after more than 6,800 international students were left in an unreliable state after the US government revoked Havard’s international student certification.

So far, the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University have decided to take in students who have been affected because of the visa crackdown by the United States. As per reports, the University of Tokyo is thinking about giving temporary acceptance to students affected because of the US visa issues. Kyoto University is also reviewing potential measures to help out the affected international students.

Rising Uncertainties For International Students In The USA
Due to the rising tensions between the US government and the leading universities in the country, there have been several issues. One of the worst ones is the US government revoking Harvard University’s certification to enrol international students. Some reports suggest that the Department of Homeland Security even cited alleged misconduct by international students.
