On December 30, Prime Minister Modi will officially launch ‘Amrit Bharat Express’ trains. It will be a huge step towards improving the rail travel experience for the common man. Originally named Vande Sadharan, the Amrit Bharat Express is a push-pull train. It has a top speed of 130 kmph that will specifically serve the requirements of migrant labourers.

The Amrit Bharat Express, in contrast to its Vande Bharat contemporaries, has an eye-catching orange and grey loco-hauled arrangement. With a WAP5 locomotive with 6,000 HP at either end, this special “push-pull” arrangement allows for quicker acceleration, which saves passengers’ trip time.

The first route, which reflects the historical and cultural significance of these two locations, will link Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh with Darbhanga in Bihar. It is expected that the second route will provide better connectivity to the area by travelling from Bengaluru to Malda in South India.

The next Amrit Bharat Express will run on several routes throughout the nation and have both air-conditioned (AC) and non-AC coaches, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s announcement.

He stated that in order to determine what has to be improved, these trains would be run for a trial period of four to five months. These trains seek to create widespread connectivity throughout the country, much like the Vande Bharat trains that connect different states.

A Comfortable Travel Experience

There are 22 coaches on the train, according to reports. There are 8 public second-class cars for people without reservations, 12 second-class 3-tier sleeping coaches, and 2 guard cabins.

Better cushioned luggage racks, visually pleasing and ergonomic chairs and berths, and mobile chargers with appropriate holders are noteworthy characteristics. A number of other features are also included in the Amrit Bharat Express. This includes radium lighting flooring strips, aerosol-based fire suppression systems, and zero-discharge FRP modular toilets.

The advantages of this new train model’s enclosed gangways and improved restrooms were highlighted by ICF General Manager BG Mallya.

According to a statement from a railway official, the Railway Board has informed passengers that the minimum fare for trips between one and fifty kilometres on Amrit Bharat Express trains is ₹35, exclusive of additional charges. This is approximately fifteen to seventeen percent more than the minimum fare for other mail or express trains. (As per Economic Times)
