Did you know that legendary singer Freddie Mercury has roots in Mumbai? Freddie Mercury (birth name Farrokh Bulsara) was born to Parsi-Indian parents in 1946. The lead vocalist of the legendary band Queen studied at St. Peter’s in Panchgani and often visited his relatives in Mumbai’s Dadar Parsi Colony. And Anand Mahindra recently discovered his Mumbai roots. The business tycoon took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that he, along with his grandson, visited the late singer’s nephew Jangir. He also got a tour of Jangir’s home, where he mentioned that Freddie would spend time during his vacation.
Anand Mahindra even posted a few pictures of the house and with Jangir. In his post, he said he saw “memorabilia including the old record player where Freddy would occasionally play his favourite music.” As per his post, Anand Mahindra contacted a friend, architect Hafeez Contractor, to introduce him to Freddie Mercury’s relatives in Mumbai because his 7-year-old grandson is a huge fan of the late singer. So, to give him a glimpse of his favourite singer’s early life, Anand Mahindra arranged this whole meeting.
After discussing his visit, Anand Mahindra concluded his post with a beautiful message, “Mumbai is special; full of undiscovered stories…”

Freddie was a legend with the mic and a gem of a person. The world lost him too soon, but thankfully, he left us with a lot of music that reminds us of him. It must have been a great visit for your grandson. I hope he had a lot of fun visiting his idol’s home.

Home and simplicity in living is a clear sign of a typical parsi home. Gentlemen from whom I got home in Mumbai are also resident of the same colony. They never show off and keep it to minimalistic possible. #Parsi #Life
