Anupam Kher Learned How To Swim For His Latest Movie, ‘Vijay 69’

Did you know that the ‘Vijay 69’ lead star, Anupam Kher, learnt swimming at the ripe age of 68? Yes, he acquired swimming skills to portray an ex-swimming instructor who did a triathlon. He spoke about learning to swim and sharpening his skills on the bicycle on one of our episodes of Sunday Brunch with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani. They met at Shifuku By Curly Tales in Andheri to indulge in Pan-Asian food and catch up on life.

Anupam Kher On Swimming For His Film, ‘Vijay 69’

While conversing about Anupam Kher’s ‘Vijay 69’, he highlighted that to portray the role of a swimmer, he had to learn to swim. Without any hesitation, the actor began taking swimming lessons and learnt this skill at the age of 68!

He said, “I can swim now but I am not a trained swimmer. I can’t, still, take my mouth out and breathe and swim but I can be underwater.” In doing so, Anupam sir overcame his fear of being underwater. He is proud of shooting for a triathlon in ‘Vijay 69’ and covering swimming, cycling and running as he concluded by saying, “It was a great sense of achievement.”

He Is Fortunate Enough For This Reason

Continuing on the same thought of learning and progressing in life, Anupam Kher quoted one of the beautiful dialogues from his film, ‘Vijay 69’. And it goes, “Sapno ki koi expiry date nahi hoti hai.” The actor wholeheartedly believes in this and is lucky enough to be in a career where his age is not a hindrance to his dreams. 

He also expressed gratitude for working in a field that does not require any retirement. Lastly, he mentioned that Bollywood has no restrictions and age bar, he strived to learn the skill sets for a swimmer and shot an entire film based on it. Hence, talent is timeless and age is irrelevant!
