The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) made a surprising discovery while renovating the prestigious Siri Fort Children’s Museum. The possibility of a hidden treasure was raised about three months ago. Eventually, ASI officials found a hidden tunnel-like structure close to Siri Fort. Officials made this unexpected discovery while constructing a temporary walkway to link the entrance to the museum with the main road. They were unaware that their efforts would lead to a remarkable archaeological find. Workers on the project noticed an opening in an arched structure, which piqued the interest of the ASI officials.
A Secret Tunnel-Like Structure Discovered At Siri Fort
Officials claim that only the entrance of an arched structure is currently visible and that there are no plans to carry out further excavation. The organisation is keen to uncover the other hidden components. In light of this, the structure will be preserved and kept on display as a museum exhibit.
The archaeologists believe that these structures were constructed during the Khilji dynasty’s rule over Delhi in the 13th and 14th centuries. The officials believe that children who visit the museum will be able to learn from the building. According to the Hindustan Times report, an ASI representative stated that by teaching young visitors how to recognise and understand partially buried structures, they hope to minimise the need for extensive excavation.
The Siri Fort Children’s Museum features thirty replicas of well-known sculptures and monuments from India and other countries. Officials have developed a detailed project report that outlines plans for the addition of about 100 more replicas to the museum’s collection.

This Fort Built During The Khilji Dynasty Is Now In Ruins
The Siri Fort, a significant historical site, was constructed in the 13th century by Alauddin Khilji. Alauddin Khilji, a renowned ruler of the Khilji dynasty, is widely recognised as one of the most well-known leaders of his time. The fort, which served as a military garrison, became a haven for his mighty army. History experts emphasise the significance of Hauz Khas Village which was crucial in supplying the military with water. This strategic plan made sure that there would always be water available for the people living close to the fort.
Despite its poor condition now, it is still a site of interest to archaeologists because of its historical significance.
