At 95 UK Man Gets A Degree, Wants To Do PhD; What’s Your Excuse?

You must have often heard the cliche “Age is just a number”. This man in the United Kingdom is a living breathing example of it. Dr. David Marjot, a UK man, completed a Master’s degree at the age of 95 and has created a record for being the oldest graduate ever at Kingston University. And that’s not all. After completing his Master’s degree, he now plans on getting a PhD as well! Here’s his story!

UK Man Gets A Degree At 95 And Now Wants To Do PhD

According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times or HT, Dr. David Marjot restarted his journey as a student 72 years after receiving his medical license. He is a retired psychiatrist from Weybridge, Surrey, and recently completed his Master’s degree.

His degree was in Modern European Philosophy from Kingston University where he broke the record for being the oldest graduate. Previously, this record was held by a 93-year-old who passed in 1994. Now that his Master’s is finished, he even plans on pursuing a PhD.

If he ends up pursuing this doctorate he will be 102 years old before he completes it. When asked for advice for those who wanted to re-enter education, he said that though it might be a gamble, if one is interested in it, then one should certainly go for it.

Started The Course After His Wife Of 65 Years Passed 

In one of his interviews cited in the HT article, he also mentioned that his Master’s degree was immensely helpful in coping with his wife’s death.

He mentioned that his wife, to whom he was married for more than 65 years passed away. The degree hence helped him keep his mind active and busy.
