Attention Passengers! World’s Largest Passenger Plane Emirates Airbus A380 Debuts In Bengaluru

What a historical moment for Emirates and Kempegowda International Airport! Airbus A380 made its grand debut in Bengaluru on Friday. At around 3:40 pm, the plane made the historic touchdown in the airport. It is the largest passenger aircraft in the entire world. It was an absolutely delightful moment when the Emirates flight EK562 landed in the Karnataka capital from Dubai.

Emirates Airbus A380 Makes A Debut In Bengaluru

This commercial flight reached the airport almost 2 weeks before its schedule of commencing the services. Captain Nikhil Thiagarajan and Sandeep Prabhu flew flight EK562 to reach the South Indian city’s airport. The journey began with them taking off the commercial flight from Dubai at 10:00 am on 14 October. The flight A380 carrying 224 passengers landed on the south runaway 7 minutes ahead of the timing and was greeted with a procession of follow-me vehicles.

S.T. Somashekar Gowda (Minister of Cooperation), H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman AlBanna, (Ambassador of the UAE to India) Hari Marar (MD & CEO of Bangalore International Airport Limited), and Mohammed Sarhan (Emirates’ Vice President– India and Nepal) welcomed Airbus A380. Media, aviation enthusiasts, special guests, and a huge crowd welcomed the flight. With the procession, it was escorted to the north runway.

The Sevices Between Dubai & Bengaluru Is Starting This Month

Commencing the services on 30 October, the Airbus A380 will take passengers between Bengaluru and Dubai. According to the schedule, the timing from Dubai is at 9:15 pm and arriving in Bengaluru at 2:30 am the next day. The schedule for the return flight is leaving the Bengaluru airport at 4:30 am and reaching Dubai at 7:10 pm.

Satyaki Raghunath is the Chief Strategy & Development Officer at BIAL and while speaking about the iconic aircraft, he focused on ‘operational capability and rising passenger demand at BLR Airport’. He shared, ‘Bengaluru has become the first South Indian city to be served by Emirates’ flagship A380 services. He also mentioned how the ‘enhanced premium experience’ of  Airbus A380 will ‘not only meet the strong travel demand but also help to stimulate traffic between the two markets.’

This is not the first time that Airbus A380 is providing its services in India. Back in 2014, they launched in the country for the first time on the Dubai-Mumbai route.
