Atul Kulkarni

On this interesting episode of Tere Gully Mein, Atul Kulkarni joined our anchor, Arohi Thatte to explore the great food of Girgaon, Mumbai. This Marathi mulga is a hard-core Marathi foodie and we loved making him try every delicious dish from Vinay Health Home and Sujata Upahar Gruha. During conversations with Atul, we got to know more about his career journey and we were surprised to know that Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rajpal Yadav were his juniors at the National School of Drama. Read more about who all were at the National School of Drama.

Atul Kulkarni’s Had Them As Juniors At His College

While we were relishing good Maharashtrian food, we learned that Atul Kulkarni earlier got into engineering and had to repeat the first year thrice before he could figure out that he was not cut out for this course. Slowly, he figured out his knack when he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Arts in Solapur, Maharashtra. His interest was in films and not engineering; it’s good that he figured it out and has been able to deliver great hits.

He enrolled at the National School of Drama in New Delhi at the age of 27 and the rest is history! This time Atul Kulkarni did not have to repeat any year again and passed flawlessly at the age of 30. National School of Drama is known to have groomed and polished a bunch of people who are currently popular names in the film industry. Can you guess some of them?

We were very curious to know who he met, who were his alumni and of course his juniors, if any. Atul Kulkarni happily told us that the great Zakir Hussain and Adil Hussain were his seniors. While the juniors were Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Swanand Kirkire and Rajpal Yadav. This is quite a cool bunch! He even met his wife, Geetanjali Kulkarni, a Marathi actress, at this university. The National School of Drama truly creates gems! We are waiting for more gems to add to this list.

Atul Kulkarni aced it and he spent three years learning and polishing his craft with courses in acting, drama and arts. He told us that this course certainly becomes demanding in many ways and requires you to be on your toes all the time.

This 24*7 routine didn’t stop him from learning and he had a blissful experience. Atul told us that studying at this university gave him an experience of 10 years in just those three years of degree. He said that he couldn’t find a more perfect way to explain his time at the university.
