We have often heard less is more. And as it turns out, Baba Ramdev follows this saying when it comes to his meals as well! While giving a tour of his massive Patanjali Yogpeeth Campus in Haridwar, Kamiya Jani asked him when he eats. To this, he said he only eats once a day and even explained the reason behind it with a Sanskrit shloka.

When we asked him to explain it in layman’s terms, he explained that a person who eats once a day stays healthy or “nirogya”. A person who exercises, works out a lot or works as a farmer, can take up two meals a day, as they tend to burn it off as well. As for people who eat three meals a day, they tend to stay unhealthy or “sada rogi”. Finally, those who take four meals a day would end up dead sooner rather than later!

He feels the concept of eating regularly is absolutely ridiculous. Stating the example of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Baba Ramdev says even a mighty warrior like him ate once during the afternoon. He then enjoyed some fruits in the evening. According to him, people these days often fall ill because of their “aahar, vichar, sanskar, aur aadatein.”

What Does He Eat In A Day?

Following this ideology, Baba Ramdev eats only once a day around noon. In fact, his all-vegetarian meal is without any grains. He eats vegetables and fruits and says he is full of energy after that. He even mentioned that despite eating only once a day, his haemoglobin is 17.5, weight is 65 kg, sugar levels range between 70-75, and energy levels are through the roof!

According to Baba Ramdev, one must eat raw food first. So, take your fruits and salads before diving into the full meal. Then, you should take your cooked meal, and lastly the dessert. Also, dessert does not mean sugar, you can take fruits, dry fruits, anjeer, gur, dates, or anything made with these. Most importantly, one should avoid all sorts of desserts, tea, coffee, or curd at night.
