Bad News, Bengalureans! Nandi Hills Is Shut On Weekdays Till April 25; Here’s Why

Nandi Hills, Bengaluru’s favourite weekend getaway will now be open only on the weekends till April 25. So, bikers and adventurers looking to zoom away to the hill fortress during the week, have to digest this bad news. Read on to know why this new rule has been implemented during the summer season.

Nandi Hills Closed On Weekdays From March 25 To April 25

The temporary closure of Nandi Hills during the weekdays may come as heartbreaking news( fleeting one) for Bengalureans. Nestled 60 km away from the city, the scenic spot is a favourite amongst travel enthusiasts for its panoramic views, ancient temples with remarkable carvings and pleasant weather. The reason for the closure is attributed to road improvement work worth ₹4.9 crore.

From March 25 to April 25, Nandi Hills will not be accessible during the weekdays. However, a report by The Times Of India informs that travellers can visit the spot on weekends from 6:30 pm on Fridays to 8 am on Mondays. As per the news report, a notification informs that the contractor and PWD officials have asked for restrictions on public entry during the weekdays.

₹4.9 Crore Road Development Work In Progress

The reason behind the request is to ensure the smooth execution of the 7 km road repair work. This order was issued by Chikkaballapur District Magistrate P.N. Ravindra. The contractors requested the authorities to restrict movement on the road for safe and uninterrupted work on the winding hairpin road which is quite steep. The rugged terrain and sweltering heat also pose challenges for the development work for which a temporary halt in vehicular and tourist entry seemed apt as a precautionary measure.

Tourists travelling to Nandi Hills are urged to follow the revised entry guidelines and plan their trips accordingly till April 25. From the summer retreat of Tipu Sultan to the ancient Bhoga Nandeeshwara and Yoga Nandeeshwara temples to the majestic statue of Nandi to the pristine sunrise views, a day out at Nandi Hills is one that guarantees a well-spent time with loved ones.
