The world’s highest post office nestled in Hikkim in Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley has certainly been on every traveller’s bucket list. The red letterbox-shaped building perched at a height of 14,567 feet above sea level is a spellbinding tourist attraction. Bangalore is all set to get a post office that will grab the eyeballs of travel enthusiasts. Touted to be India’s first 3D printed post office, it will be no less than a monument. India’s First 3D Printed Post Office To Come In Bangalore

Bangalore will be home to India’s first 3D-printed post office in a month’s time. According to The New Indian Express, the 3D-printed post office is expected to reduce construction costs down to a quarter of the amount spent on a traditional brick-and-mortar model. The post office will be situated at Cambridge Layout in the Halasuru area.

3D Printing Reduces Cost By 25 Percent

Chief Post Master General, Karnataka Circle, S Rajendra Kumar revealed to TNIE that they were interested in building low-cost post offices. So, they approached Larsen & Toubro Construction, the only company in India that uses 3D printing technology to construct buildings. A building of 1000 square feet would cost just ₹25 lakhs through 3D printing. This is 25 per cent of the cost of normal construction. It also reduces the carbon footprint as it uses recycled materials. Well, this is a post office, you’d certainly want to visit Bangalore.
