Bangaloreans, were you looking forward to a fun and cost-efficient road trip this monsoon? You might want to reconsider. Travelling costs on the Bangalore-Mysore highway are about to hit a new high says the National Highways Authority Of India as tolls prices take a hike.
Bangalore-Mysore Toll Prices To Witness Hike From July 1
Starting July 1, the NHAI plans to raise travel expenses on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
A new toll plaza will be established in Ganangur, Srirangapatna to collect tolls on the Mysuru-Nidaghatta section of the Maddur Highway.
This toll will be collected in addition to the existing toll on the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta route.
A monthly pass priced at ₹330 will be offered by the NHAI, especially for non-commercial cars travelling within a 20-kilometre distance from the toll plaza.
It’s important to note that during the scheduled simulated rehearsal on June 30, no tolls will be collected on the motorway as stated by the NHAI. The tolls are priced as follows:
- The fare for cars, SUVs, and vans travelling from Mysuru to Nidaghatta will be ₹155, one-way, and for a round trip within 24 hours, will be ₹235
- For a single journey, LCVs, LGVs, and minibuses will be billed ₹235, while a round trip within 24 hours will cost ₹375
- Additionally, trucks and buses with two axles will be required to pay ₹525 for a one-way trip and a return journey within 24 hours, ₹790

Highway Toll Hike Receives Flak From Ruling Party
This decision to raise toll prices has received serious flak from the ruling Congress party.
P Ravikumar, MLA of Madhyan Congress, said that the NHAI has not finished various tasks on the expressway, such as completing the Hanakere Underpass.
Along with relocating the entry point near Amaravati Hotel, establishing an entry point at Hosabudanoor, expanding the canal at Chikka Mandya, and marking the old Bengaluru-Mysuru Road with white tape.
He believes that the NHAI’s decision to collect tolls without completing these works is unjust.
While bus fares for women have been made free in the state, rising prices of other such commodities make it tough for the citizens to adapt to the latest changes.
National highways are the biggest connectors for those travellers who can’t afford the luxury to travel by air transport.
