Bengaluru is about to experience a bandh and some transportation issues soon. It is conducted by Pro-Kannada organisations, farmer associations, and political groups in the Karnataka capital. The staff of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation are in support of this protest. It is expected that the shutdown will lead to issues with disruption. Bengaluru Bandh To Take Place On September 26
Several groups and departments came together to decide about the upcoming bandh on September 26. The reason behind this is to protest against the Karnataka government’s decision regarding the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. Kurubur Shanthakumar, the President of the Karnataka Water Conservation Committee, initially took the decision about the bandh in the city on September 26, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

In fact, Vatal Nagaraj, a pro-Kannada activist, also called a bandh on 25 September. These announcements turned out to be a bit confusing for many people. Later, a meeting was conducted to make a final decision about the Bengaluru bandh. Though they decided to conduct the shutdown on September 25, Kurubur Shanthakumar did not change or withdraw his date of bandh.
Here’s All You Need To Know About This Shutdown:
- Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) are in support of the bandh. They have decided to suspend their operations on the day of the protest. It looks like services are going to be affected.
- Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited is set to operate the metro according to the normal schedule.
- If you have plans to travel to or from the airport, it is likely that services will be affected to some extent.
- Tanveer Pasha is the President of the Ola Uber Drivers’ and Owners’ Association. The association is in support of the shutdown decision. Also, they are not operating on the roads on the day of Bandh, according to a report by LiveMint.
- Theatres are likely to be shut on Tuesday.
- Restaurants in the city are going to be open.
Shanthakumar has made an appeal to schools, colleges, film chambers, and IT hubs to announce a holiday in view of the September 26 bandh.
