The much-awaited 71-km stretch of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, falling in Karnataka, has finally opened. According to The New Indian Express, a temple that has been hindering the construction work of the road has been shifted and work has started in full swing here. Back in November, work on the last 400-metre stretch of the expressway was underway. It took some time to complete.

As per NHAI Bengaluru Regional Officer Vilas P Brahmankar, the entire Karnataka section of the expressway was complete, except the last 400-metre stretch. He told The New Indian Express that the work was delayed due to a temple near Hoskote at Jinnagara Cross. The temple has now been shifted.

The Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway is a four-lane, 260-km-long national expressway. It passes through Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Reportedly, this project is South India’s first greenfield route and is being built at a cost of around ₹17,900 crore. Once complete, the expressway will shorten the travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai to three hours from the current seven.

In Karnataka, the work on the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway was carried out in three packages. Package 1 from Hoskote to Malur (27.1 km), Package 2 between Malur and Bangarpet (27.1 km), and Package 3 between Bangarpet and Bethamangala (17.5 km). All these roads will offer convenient and faster experiences to commuters.
