Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat To Extend Up To Belagavi Now, Confirms Railway Minister

Good news, folks! Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has officially confirmed the extension of the Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat Express to Belagavi. The new train will commence operations soon and will significantly improve connectivity and travel in Karnataka.

Bengaluru To Belagavi Vande Bharat Extension Confirmed

According to a Swarajya report, after months of speculation, Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V Somanna announced the extension of Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat to Belagavi. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the good news. Attaching a letter signed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, he shared that the much-awaited Vande Bharat extension has been approved.

“Pleased to share that the Vande Bharat Express service between Bengaluru and Belagavi will commence shortly. Acting on the request submitted to Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw ji, for the extension of the Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat up to Belagavi, and in view of the growing passenger demand, approval has now been granted for a new Vande Bharat Express on this important route,” he added to the post.

All You Need To Know About This Development

The Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2023. The existing train connects key stations including KSR Bengaluru City Junction, Yesvantpur Junction, Tumkur, Davangere, SSS Hubballi Junction, and Dharwad. Keeping in mind the growing public demand, the Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat train’s extension to Belagavi was given a green signal.

Currently, it takes almost 10 hours to cover the distance between Bengaluru and Belagavi by the Rani Chennamma train, the fastest existing railway option on the route. With the Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express, this travel time will be significantly reduced and become more convenient. While the official date and timing for the commencement of operations has not been announced yet, according to the Railway Minister’s letter, it will start from Belagavi in the morning.
