We have all seen instances where food delivery apps or restaurants end up serving customers non-vegetarian food instead of vegetarian food. Some took the matter to Twitter and got it solved. Well, in yet another similar case, a father approached the consumer commission against a Bengaluru hotel that served them chicken burgers instead of vegetarian ones. The father-son duo was paid ₹15,000 as compensation.

A 62-year old Brahmin filed a complaint against Bengaluru’s Hotel The Fern in Shivamogga. The reason behind this is that the hotel served a chicken burger instead of a vegetarian one, and the son of this Brahmin man took a bite unknowingly.

The Brahmin brought Shivamogga’s hotel, Harsha The Fern, before the consumer commission and was compensated a payment of Rs 15,000 for their hotel stay.

The man, who lives on Doddaballapur Road in Bengaluru, submitted a complaint, and the Third Additional Bengaluru Urban District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, which is made up of president Shivaram K., members Chandrashekar S. Noola, and Rekha Sayannavar, decided to take action.

The complaint claims that the bed that was provided in the room was faulty and gave the complainant, who was already experiencing age-related problems, backaches. The plaintiff, who represented himself at the hearing, and his companions ordered vegetarian cuisine that contained peanuts, a vegetarian burger, and a vegetarian sandwich since they follow a vegetarian diet.

The complainant’s son, without knowing, bit into the chicken burger and understood that it was not vegetarian. That incident also occurred while they were participating in rituals associated with grieving. The experience caused him severe trauma, sorrow, sadness, and guilt. In addition, he had serious gastrointestinal problems that required medical attention

Later, the complainant and his son asked the hotel management to fix their issues and stop billing them for their stay. The management’s response, though, was hesitant, and they provided an alternate reward of another complimentary breakfast, lunch, or dinner. (As per The New Indian Express)
