A 24-year-old Bengaluru man recently took to Reddit to share that a Swiggy Genie delivery agent harassed him while picking up a package. The man alleged that the delivery agent made an explicit and inappropriate sexual remark. He also gave an update about how Swiggy responded to his complaint.

The Bengaluru man, in the post on Reddit, explained that he booked Swiggy Genie to send keys to his flatmate while he was at a friend’s flat. After giving him the package, he noticed that the delivery agent lingered for 5-10 seconds waiting for the OTP. He then suddenly asked asked him, “Can I suck your c***?”

Disturbed and taken aback by the remark, he stuttered a ‘no’ and immediately informed his friends at the flat. They advised him to take the package back, as “he doesn’t seem safe.” The Bengaluru man then reached out to Swiggy to complain but was quite disappointed with their initial response.

“The first thing they said was that the guy was from Rapido as they have a partnership with Rapido for genie. I said I don’t care, I booked on Swiggy Genie so he’s from Swiggy Genie,” the Reddit post read. He then shared that he couldn’t even imagine if such a delivery agent appeared at some woman’s house, describing that he is a fairly large man and that if something like this could happen to him, then it could happen to anyone.

Company Responds & Blacklists The Rider

He later gave an update and shared that Swiggy had responded and apologised for the experience. They have assured the man that strict action has been taken against the rider. Both Swiggy and Rapido have blacklisted the delivery agent. Furthermore, the customer support agent, who initially handled the complaint, is also undergoing retraining to better respond to such cases.

We can’t even imagine how the man must have felt at that moment. We are glad that Swiggy responded promptly and took action against the pick-up agent.
