Namma Yatri and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This association is to launch app-based auto-rickshaw services focusing on the ‘last-mile connectivity gap’ connecting the metro stations in Bengaluru, according to a report by The Indian Express.

With the introduction of this service, it is likely to become easier for passengers to get an auto easily. BMRCL joined hands with Namma Yatri and the Bengaluru Traffic Police to launch the app-based services of auto-rickshaws for metro commuters. The collaboration will work on resolving the issues of the last-mile connectivity gap regarding the metro stations and also bring options for safe facilities.

BMRCL stated that people will get reliable last-mile options, according to The Indian Express report. Namma Yatri’s plan is to initiate this app-based auto-rickshaw facility at the Indiranagar Metro Station. They have already sent the idea to BMRCL and also mentioned starting it on a pilot basis as of now.

Namma Yatri proposed to kickstart the pilot program within May itself. The plans are to start it officially in the next month. Seeing the results and responses from people, the departments will decide to launch the services in different metro stations in Bengaluru.

The drivers of Namma Yatri will have the option to select destinations under a queue system. This is an aspect of the digital solution. If a situation arises when passengers are not getting any auto, they can choose the usual ride.
