Bengaluru Under Heatwave? IMD Issues Heatwave Alert As Temperatures Expected to Reach 40 Degrees!

Bengaluru is popular for being known as India’s IT hub. However, this metropolitan city is currently experiencing immense heat. As a result, residents in the city are seeking refuge through water coolers, fans, and air-conditioners. And, now the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for certain districts of Karnataka. This heatwave is expected to take place until April 6. Here’s all about it!

IMD Issues Heatwave Alert For Several Districts

In a notification released by IMD, heatwave conditions are expected to be experienced by some districts of Karnataka. These include Bagalkote, Koppal, Kalaburgi, Gadag and Ballari. As such, with this issuance of a heatwave warning, people are wondering if Bengaluru is officially under a heatwave. Not just Karnataka, this alert has also been issued for isolated pockets of Vidarbha, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Telangana, Jharkhand, and Odisha

Well, according to a report by Times Now News, it should be noted that currently, the city is not under such alert. It’s worth mentioning that IMD has issued a heatwave alert when the maximum temperature exceeds 40°C. However, going by the predictions by the IMD, temperatures in Bengaluru are expected to remain below 36°C. So, while several parts of Karnataka are under heatwave alert, Bengaluru is not included in this alert presently.

Tips to Keep In Mind To Avoid Falling Sick?

In the middle of this development, the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority has also advised people to stay indoors during the hardest time of the day. This is basically between 12 PM and 3 PM and they have been asked to drink lots of water and to avoid beverages, like alcohol, coffee, tea, and fizzy drinks. People have also been advised to wear light-coloured cotton clothes and use sunglasses and umbrellas when stepping out.
