Auto fares in Bengaluru have been skyrocketing, leaving commuters frustrated. Daily commuters in the city have shared that they feel auto fares are overpriced. To ensure there is no more overpricing, two local software engineers have come to the rescue. Anmol Sharma and Yash Garg have created an online tool known as “Meter Haaki” and it is the answer to all of your overpriced auto ride woes.
Software Engineers In Bengaluru Create Meter Haaki For Auto Fares
Two software engineers from Bengaluru created an online tool called “Meter Haaki” to know how much extra money people end up paying for their ride. You can easily get access to this tool at meterhaaki.com and compare the meter rate with the amount shown on online cab aggregators. According to The Indian Express, the duo created this tool to help people avoid being overcharged due to a lack of awareness about current rates. This tool makes the fare comparison easy.
After launching “Meter Haaki”, the software engineer duo is also working on a mobile app called “Naviget”. This application will also make the daily travel of commuters seamless as they will be able to compare fares on the go.
What Are The New Auto Rates And How Meter Haaki Works?
From August 1, Bengaluru authorities raised auto fare across the city by 20%. The base fare, which used to be ₹30, is now ₹36. For additional kilometres thereafter, the fare has been increased from ₹12 per km to ₹15 per km.
If you’re confused about how to use this new tool, then we’ve got you covered. As per The Indian Express, commuters should first check the distance on Google Maps or the Meter Haaki website. Then ask auto drivers to switch on the meter from the beginning of the ride. At the end of the journey, note down the waiting time and distance from the meter and enter it into the calculator to compare the app fare and the meter fare.
This tool is helpful for commuters who are concerned about the sudden rise in auto fares. It is the perfect solution for problems like additional rates during peak hours and hidden fees that make the fare exceed the government’s official rates.
