To Lam, the President of Vietnam, is currently in India as part of his three-day state visit. During this visit, India highlighted its rich culinary and agricultural heritage with a curated selection of traditional delicacies like Ratnagiri mangoes, Mithila makhana, Silao Khaja from Bihar and much more.

Vietnam President To Lam Was Served GI-Tagged Delicacies In India

During his visit, the President of Vietnam was served a curated selection of not just GI-tagged delicacies but also signature dishes from Bihar and Maharashtra. These culinary delights showcased India’s diverse agricultural heritage. According to The Free Press Journal, Gaya Anarsa, Mithila Makhana and Hajipur Malbhog bananas were served to the Vietnamese president.

Not just that, Ratnagiri mangoes from Maharashtra and Bihar’s Silao Khaja were also on the menu. These products reflect the diverse food traditions and culinary craftsmanship of India. Let us briefly tell you about these delicacies.

Silao Khaja is famous for its unique and delicate flaky texture. It is made with 12-16 paper-thin layers of wheat flour dough that are deep-fried in ghee and then dipped in sugar syrup. This delicacy from Silao, Bihar, has a GI tag and is known for its long history.

Mithila Makhana, Gaya Anarsa & Millet Bars Were Also Served

Apart from this, Gaya Anarsa is also a traditional delicacy from Bihar. It is prepared using sweetened rice flour and jaggery. It has a crunchy exterior and soft interior and is often stuffed with khoya. Mithila Makhana, or fox nuts, is also a premium agricultural product from the Mithila region of Bihar and has a GI tag as well.

Hajipur Malbhog bananas, which are a premium variety, and Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri mangoes, which are distinguished by their rich aroma and golden colour, were also served to the Vietnamese president. The curated selection also included healthy millet bars from Maharashtra, as we all know that millets are an integral part of the state’s cultural heritage. They are rich in nutrients, fibre, protein and minerals.
