Blinkit, Zepto & Swiggy Instamart Saw Record Sales On Holi; Gulaal, Sweets & Pichkaris Help Sales Surge On Holi-Day!

Gulaal, sweets, pichkari, groceries, oil…the list of essentials for Holi is endless. Sadly for most last-minute shoppers, local markets tend to remain shut on Holi. And that’s exactly what helped quick commerce firms like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart have a cheerful Holi! These platforms saw a massive sale surge on Holi for festival-related items like colours, pickharis, flowers, and sweets this time around. In fact, as per the data shared by these portals, some of them even clocked in their ‘all-time high orders’!

It was indeed a cheerful Holi for quick commerce firms like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart! These portals saw record sales for Holi-related items like gulaal, sweets, pickharis, water balloons, white t-shirts, flowers, coconut oil, etc. As per an update shared by Blinkit CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, the portal recorded an “all-time high orders, OPM (orders per minute), and almost every other metric on the board.”

Furthermore, Swiggy Instamart clocked 700,000 orders in a single day, the highest ever, on Holi. Zepto recorded 600,000 orders, a record for the firm, on the Holi-Day. To understand the surge, Swiggy typically sees 550,000 orders in a day, whereas the numbers for Zepto are around 500,000 orders per day.

What People Ordered Throughout Holi-Day

In a series of fun posts on X (formerly Twitter), Blinkit and Zepto shared their sales record for Holi. These posts also mentioned what were the most ordered products online on the day of Holi. As per the data, colours, sweets, flowers, white t-shirts, coconut oil, and laundry essentials were some of the most ordered items on these apps on Holi.

By evening, Zomato and Swiggy’s food delivery arm also recorded a massive surge in delivery numbers. However, the numbers for the same have not been reported yet.
