Udupi, a city in the state of Karnataka is known as the ‘temple city’ with numerous beautiful temples here. But little did you know that this divine city is also surrounded by exquisite beaches? Yes, the state which offers you everything like hills, beaches, temples, delicacies, etc is the home of some lovely beaches. Here are 5 must-visit blissful beaches which are just a drive away from Udupi.

1. Maple Beach

This pristine beach is situated at the mouth of a small river that flows around, the Udyavara river. It is nearly 6 km away from Udupi and is the most popular beach not only among the locals but also among foreigners. This beach offers you a combination of white sand, pleasant weather, a sea walk, delicacies at food shacks and adventure sports. It is one of the most exquisite beaches in India.

2. Maravanthe Beach

Maravanthe is a distinctively positioned beach in Karnataka with the Arabian sea on one side and the Souparnika river on the other side. This unique combination of sea and river on either side of the highway is said to be the only one in India. One can witness the stunning sunset on the horizon. This beach with golden sand, palm trees and clear blue sky offers serenity like no other.

3. Kaup Beach

His beautiful beach is located around 15 km from Udupi. This beach is famous for its scenic views, delectable food shacks and 130 feet lighthouse. The lighthouse is constructed on a rock surrounded by Palm trees and is open from 4 pm to 6 pm daily. A panoramic view of the Arabian Sea from the lighthouse will leave you awestruck.

4. Kodi Beach

Three sides of the Kodi beach is surrounded by water. The Suvarna River forms a Delta as it flows into the Arabian Sea, earning it the name Delta Beach. It is also known as the ‘sangama’ point (meeting point). Visitors can also take a boat trip to explore the mangroves here. This place is famous for its lighthouse, toddy (palm wine) and delicious seafood.

5. Mattu Beach

Located just 10kms away from Udupi, it is one of the hidden and untouched gemstones near Udupi. This unexplored beach gives you the most mesmerizing views with swaying coconut and palm trees all around. The backwaters and stunning sunsets give you the most tranquil experience. If you plan to stay after sunset you can also witness bioluminescent organisms lighting up the beach.
