India’s most Coldplay fans are heartbroken. While we imagined booking tickets for “Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025” and ticking off the dreamy experience of attending a Coldplay concert from our bucket lists, we ended up waiting in long queues on the official website and mobile application of BookMyShow. Amid reports, news, fans’ frustrations, and social media users slamming BookMyShow, the platform released an official statement about tickets being sold by black marketers.

On Sunday, we all saw how scalpers began selling Coldplay concert tickets right after 12 PM. Be it the first two shows on January 18 and 19 or the newly added concert on January 21, booking tickets for all these dates was extremely difficult and only a very small section of BookMyShow users could purchase tickets.

Within a couple of minutes, after the tickets went live on the platform, we realised the surge of black marketers selling these tickets at exorbitant prices. Shockingly, the cost for many tickets exceeded ₹3 lakhs. In between all the rush and complaints on social media, BookMyShow released a statement about the illegal sale of tickets.

The online ticket-booking platform highlighted these scams and stated “Do not fall prey to unauthorised platforms selling fake tickets for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025.” According to the statement, tickets sold on these platforms are invalid and fake. The platform emphasised that ticket scalping is illegal in our country. Also, it is a punishable offence.

Coldplay fans are still infuriated. Many continue to blame BookMyShow for the sudden site crash due to high traffic. Social media users are unhappy with the way the platform conducted the sale and sold the tickets yesterday. More than 1 million people tried booking tickets for the shows. However, most people left the site disheartened.

Comparing the sadness to not being able to book tickets on BookMyShow, people are more angry about the entire incident of scalpers hogging all Coldplay tickets and selling them on different online platforms for unimaginably extravagant prices.
