Everyone talks about the vibe of South Delhi and we get it! But the West Delhi swag is completely different. The Punjabi comedian, Maheep Singh, boasted about the dapper vibe of being a West Delhi boy on this fun episode of Tere Gully Mein. Tonakshi Kalra, our anchor, joined him at the popular eatery, Cafe Lota in Central Delhi, to chat about his life as a standup comedian, his love for good food and travel, and more. Read on to learn about his thoughts on West Delhi.
Comedian Maheep Singh Is A True West Delhi Boy
We were at our first eatery to relish good desi food with a contemporary twist when the conversation shifted towards his Punjabi roots. Born in Punjab’s Patiala, Maheep Singh was brought up in the national capital. He believes that he is a true Delhiite—not just any Delhiite, a West Delhiite!
He revealed that his maternal hometown was in Patiala, which they visited once a year. To clarify further, he mentioned how he was raised in a full Delhi style. Our guest stated with pride in his voice, “It can be said that I am a true Delhiite. I am a total West Delhi wala boy!”
Continuing on the same line of thought, Maheep Singh talked about growing up in West Delhi. He understood that West Delhiites are a little conservative and observe traditional habits of upbringing. The rigid rules and regulations might have sidelined him from the other worlds of Delhi. Maheep mentioned how different parts of Delhi were significantly different to the place he was brought up in.

This Is Why He Used To Visit Connaught Place As A School Kid
Maheep Singh enlightened us with another fun habit from back in the day. He reminisced about his last years in school and shared that he and his friends came to Connaught Place (CP) from West Delhi only to get a glimpse of foreigners. They had never seen any foreigners in real life and, hence, were fascinated by them.
Later, he realised there wasn’t anything unique about the foreigners and stopped doing this. Did you have any CP rituals? Comment below.
