Rare Pink Dolphin Caught On Camera
What happened in this video took the breath away from many people. A rare pink dolphin was sighted somewhere off the coast of Louisiana in the United States of America or the USA. According to an article recently published by NDTV, this particular dolphin was spotted by Thurman Gustin.
As per the article, Gustin is a fisherman and has been fishing for more than 20 years. He took to his Facebook and shared a video of the experience. In the caption, he specified that there were not one but two pink dolphins.
The article mentions that he sighted the dolphins at Cameron Parish which is located near the Gulf of Mexico. It happened on the 12th of July. The video that Gustin posted went viral, for obvious reasons. Even though the area is known to have a lot of dolphins, the pink one was certainly a surprise.

In case you’re wondering, why the dolphin is pink, here it is. The simple answer is there are some species of dolphins that are pink. Namely, the pink river dolphin. However, they are not known to be found in that area. This particular dolphin, however, might be the common bottle-nosed dolphin which is usually grey in colour.
This pink colour is thought to be because of albinism. Albinism happens across species and has been observed in plants as well as humans. Usually, it is when the skin lacks the usual amount of melanin. In certain cases of albinism, there is also a complete lack of melanin.
