It was on 14 July 2023, when the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Chandrayaan-3 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. It is the third moon spacecraft mission in India and aims to write the history of becoming the fourth nation to land a spacecraft on the moon. Chandrayaan-3 has already successfully completed the fourth orbit-raising manoeuvre and now aims for the fifth orbit-raising manoeuvre.

After the successful completion of the first four orbit-raising manoeuvres, Chandrayaan-3 is set to perform its fifth and final and undoubtedly the most-anticipated orbit-raising manoeuvre today. It is expected that the spacecraft will attempt to perform this incredibly important movement between 2 PM and 3 PM on Tuesday. Every Indian is eyeing what is about to happen today. The entire world is eagerly waiting to know the results.

With the success of this fifth-orbit-raising manoeuvre, Chandrayaan-3 will transfer to an Earth-to-Moon trajectory. The gravity of the Moon will then pull the spacecraft into the lunar orbit. This is a significant step in the Chnadrayan-3 journey.
Union Minister Discussed About The Spacecraft
Dr Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister for Science and Technology, shared some valuable information and updates about the mission and Chandrayaan-3’s lunar insertion.

The first major landmark of Chandrayaan-3 is to get out of the Earth’s orbit. Following this, its aim is to enter the orbit of the Moon. The Union Mister stated that the spacecraft will be completing its rotations in circles and getting very closer to the innermost orbit of the Moon by the first week of August.
He was quoted saying, “It will take about 10 days to exactly locate the spot where it should ideally land in the Southern Polar area.” The approximate date of landing is 23 August 2023. He concluded the video by stating it as a “huge breakthrough”.
India can become the fourth country to pen down its name for landing spacecraft on the surface of the Moon. Previously, only the US, Russia, and China have been successful in soft-landing a spacecraft on the lunar surface.
