What happens when a Chinese-American dish and an Indian dish are combined to give birth to a “Chindian” dish? Well, you’d have to ask this to US Chef Eitan Bernath. After making kulfi recently, the celebrity chef prepared Chicken Tikka Masala with coconut milk and a Chinese spin. What’s the verdict? Read on to know!

Eitan Bernath Prepares General Tso’s Chicken Tikka Masala!

Eitan Bernath shared a video on Instagram recently of a unique Chicken Tikka Masala recipe with a Chinese twist. He revealed in his reel that he got the idea to prepare this while he was in the shower. Chicken Tikka Masala which was actually prepared by an Indian Chef in Glasgow is one of the most popular dishes in the world.

The US chef gave it a Chinese spin by combining Chicken Tikka Masala with the American-Chinese favourite — General Tso’s Chicken. This is a deep-fried chicken dish which has a sweet-spicy sauce. And Chicken Tikka Masala is nothing but tandoori chicken in a spicy, creamy tomato gravy.

In the recipe video posted on his Instagram page @eitan, the US chef first heats oil in a pan and then adds cumin, cardamom, ginger and garlic paste, chopped green chillies and thinly sliced onions to it. Then, he seasons it with salt, pepper, Kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder.

Next, he adds tomato puree and paste. While usually this gravy is made with cream, he adds coconut milk to it. Once reduced, Eitan Bernath squeezes lemon to make it punchy. Next, he prepares a batter with soy sauce, egg and cornstarch. After whisking it well, he dips pieces of chicken cubes in it. Next, he deep-fries the marinated chicken cubes. And finally, he ends the dish by adding the chicken cubes to the simmering gravy.

Netizens Have Mixed Reviews About This!

And there you have it! Eitan Bernath’s General Tso’s Chicken Tikka Masala is ready! But Netizens had mixed views about this. While some called the Chindian dish “brilliant” and expressed eagerness to make it RN, others weren’t on board. Some people weren’t happy that he added coconut milk instead of fresh cream and fried chicken in the gravy.
