Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor, the man who has ruled Indian kitchens for decades, has shared a nostalgic post on Instagram. He posted two photos of his earliest ID cards along with a heartfelt caption that reflects his journey as a young chef in Mumbai. The emotional and reminiscent tone received a lot of love from his followers.

Chef Sanjeev Kapoor shared two throwback ID cards from his initial days at the Centaur Hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. One from his first job as a young chef, and the second from when he was later promoted to Executive Chef at the same hotel at the age of 28. In the post, the Indian celebrity chef recalled the beginning of his career in the city that shaped him and his career.

He wrote, “Throwback to the beginning of my journey in Mumbai. That kitchen became my world. It challenged me, inspired me, taught me and gave me direction,” giving his fans a glimpse of his early days.

The post carries a deeply personal touch. He reminisced about the journey that brought him from the long shifts in the hotel kitchen halls to becoming the host of Khana Khazana, a household name and one of the most popular Indian cooking shows on national television.

He shared, “Every long shift, every mistake, every small win, every moment of learning slowly built the foundation for something I could have never imagined.” The MasterChef also mentioned that a lot has changed since then. These old ID cards remain a powerful reminder of where he started and the passion that started it all. He ended the caption expressing his gratitude to everyone who has walked alongside him on this journey.

Sanjeev Kapoor, India’s most loved chef with around 2.1 million followers on Instagram, quickly received admiration from fans. One user commented, “My mum was obsessed with Khana Khazana back in the day and Sanjeev Kapoor was the name we learnt even before we learnt the alphabet.” Many others shared how he had inspired them in their cooking journeys. Another user wrote, “I was a big fan of Khana Khazana as a young home maker. I could impress my guests with your recipes and presentation ideas.”

For those who don’t know, the Government of India has named Sanjeev Kapoor ‘Best Chef of India’. In 2017, he also received the Padma Shri award for his contribution to Indian cuisine.
