If you’re an admirer of Chef Vikas Khanna and have been watching his new restaurant Bungalow and its progress, you know that Chef loves to celebrate all the desi festivals. For every major Indian festival, he makes sure that his restaurant has something special planned. Even on festivals like Raksha Bandhan and Ganesh Chaturthi. Now that India is busy celebrating Navratri and Durga Puja, he has adorned the entrance of his restaurant with a portrait of Maa Durga!

The Michelin-starred restaurant owner, recently took to his Instagram account to unveil the divinely beautiful artwork of Maa Durga. It was intricately crafted by him and his team. Chef Vikas did the sketching of the portrait and other aspects of it were done by his team.

The portrait was unveiled today by Mrs Pushpa Sabharwal and Neerja Patel, two elderly women whom the chef described as “favourite family members.” Chef has been teasing the unveiling of this artwork for a few days now.

The video shows him meticulously cleaning the space outside the restaurant to make the space ideal for Maa Durga’s installation. A number of people left adoring comments. They pointed out how despite being a chef of his stature, he didn’t hesitate to go down on his knees to scrub the floor.

The unveiling of the hand-crafted idol coincides with the 200-day anniversary of the restaurant. In addition to the hand-crafted artwork of Maa Durga, Chef Vikas is also creating the perfect sweet for it. Cardamom and Strawberry Sondesh!

The portrait as well as the chef were the subject of commenters’ praises. Chef Vikas is known for his humility, his passion for food and his love for his Indian roots. During Ganesh Chaturthi, he gave tiny Areca Nut Ganesh Idols as mementoes to his patrons.

Each Indian festival is celebrated at the restaurant with fervour!
