For all the people who do not know what langar seva is, it is a community kitchen that serves meals to everyone irrespective of their caste, age, religion, ethnicity, etc.
“Langar” stands for “free food for all,” and “communal kitchen” is the name given to the area in Gurudwaras where it is prepared.
The largest communal kitchen in the world, located at Golden Temple, serves about 100,000 people each day and is open around the clock.
Anyone entering the gurdwara is required to perform seva, which is a Sanskrit word that signifies “service.” Serving food to those who are eating and generally assisting with the operation of the gurdwara are all examples of seva. In other words, seva is the act of donating your time as a Sikh to assist in running the gurdwara.
