Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Railway station having 57 letters lost the chance of having the longest railway station name in the World. The title was won by Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Railway Station in Wales, with 58 characters.

Although it IS the longest Railway Station name in the country. It was renamed on April 5th, 2019, after the legendary actor and politician of Tamil Nadu.

Before Chennai Central, the title in India was held by Andhra Pradesh’s Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta Railway Station. It is located on the Andhra-Tamil Border.
