The good ol’ stainless-steel bartans in our homes are now being labeled as “chic chrome plates”, and desi netizens can’t stop laughing at the rebranding.

American digital creator Amanda Monsen recently took to social media to show off her latest IKEA find: a stainless-steel plate that she proudly dubbed “chic chrome plates”. She said she had been obsessed with the chrome trend for nearly two years and was thrilled to discover that IKEA stocked the look she had been after.

Now, in IKEA’s defence, they simply label these utensils as stainless-steel plates. However, Amanda had plenty of ideas for using them, from serving food and keeping them as coffee trays to using them as perfume trays. One plate costed $7.99 (around ₹764), while another set she picked up was priced at $14.99 (around ₹1,434)

Ever since the American creator’s video calling IKEA’s stainless-steel plates “chrome plates” went viral, desi netizens have been having a field day! From hilarious reaction videos to witty comments, social media is flooded with jokes about how the “chic chrome” plates that are basically good old steel thalis sitting in Indian kitchens.

One rage-baited user wrote, “Steel ki thali hai woh!!!!”
