In a shocking incident from Jilin, China, seven dogs were stolen for the illegal dog meat trade. But what was even more shocking was that these dogs managed to find their way back home. As per NDTV, these dogs belonged to three different households in the same village and were taken away together in a transport truck.
After being kept in the transport truck, the dogs broke out of their cage and jumped from the moving vehicle on the Changshuang Expressway. Instead of getting lost or separating, they stayed together as a group. Over the next two days, they travelled nearly 17 kilometres, crossing highways and open areas together.

What Stood Out The Most?
The video of this incident has been going viral all over social media. According to NDTV, it was recorded by a man named Lu, who captured the dogs walking along a busy highway in Changchun. In the video, we can see how a Corgi walked ahead, as if it was leading the group. A Golden Retriever stayed on the outer side and in the middle, an injured German Shepherd walked with a limp. The rest of the dogs adjusted their pace to support it.
Lu tried to guide the dogs to safety, but they ignored him and continued moving together. He later shared the video on Douyin and asked authorities to step in. As more people saw the video, volunteers came forward to help. A drone was also used to track the dogs and ensure they stayed safe.
Lu described the group as looking like “a band of little brothers in distress,” noting that they did not behave like stray dogs. By March 19, volunteers confirmed that all seven dogs had safely returned to their owners. The families felt relieved and grateful. One owner said they felt lucky their pets came back alive.
