Christmas cheer is here and Dubai has a lot in store for you this year. While the year has been rather dull, the festivities in town are sure to brighten your mood and raise your spirits. This year, Dubai has a whole lot of Christmas events you can enjoy with your family and friends, with precautions, of course. From comedy shows to an ice show and more, here are some events that can help bring the cheer this Christmas.

1. Laugh Out Loud

The Laughter Factory is hosting a Truly Memorable, End of Season Party tour until 11 December. The giggle-fest is still in progress, so book your tickets asap. Comedians Prince Abdi, Naomi Cooper and Paul Tonkinson are all set to tickle your funny bone. Shows are scheduled at different locations and timings. So, get ready for the laughter riot!

2. Watch Beauty & The Beast

This Christmas, relive your fairytale with a live performance of Beauty and the Beast at Theatre by QE2 before Christmas Day. The tale is based on the French fairy tale La Belle et la Bete. The story revolves around Belle and a misunderstood beast and is sure to leave you enthralled. Dates and timings vary for different shows at the Queen Elizabeth 2.

3. Participate In The Annual Santa Run

The third edition of the family-friendly Santa Run through Dubai Festival City is set to take place on December 11. Participants can choose between two distances – 2.5km santa run and 5km santa run. Registration is now open and entry priced at AED 105. Participants will also get a free Santa t-shirt, hat and beard, although those wanting to get their own full Santa suit are encouraged to do so too.

4. Shop Till You Drop At The Christmas Markets

Not all Christmas markets will be on this year, due to the pandemic. However, Dubai’s ever popular Ripe Market will be going all-out for Christmas at Academy Park. The market will be open every weekend until December 26 and has a lot for kids and adults alike. Enjoy a session of gingerbread making, or other Christmas workshops or shop for some handcrafted gifts.

Besides, Dubai desert resort of Bab Al Shams will be transforming into a festive market from December 12 to 20. From 6pm to 10pm each day, visitors will be able to marvel at a 40 foot Christmas tree, sing along to carol concerts at 6.30pm and shop for an array of gifts from a number of stalls. Mulled wine, hot chocolates and festive food will also be available on the stalls. Guests can also opt for the Christmas-themed buffet at Al Forsan restaurant, served each day at 7pm.

5. Enjoy A Christmas Concert At Dubai Opera

Dubai Opera has not just one, but two Christmas concerts happening this year. British popstars Gareth Gates and Natasha Hamilton are all set to take to the stage on 10 December, for a nostalgic ‘noughties’ Christmas concert. Guests can groove to Christmas songs, Yuletide classics and audience carols. Tickets for the Christmas Cracker start from AED 225 including a welcome beverage.

The stage will be set again on 11 December for NSO Big Band’s Santa Baby, a jazz concert. The evening will have traditional Christmas songs like Joy to the World, Jingle Bells and O Holy Night, contemporary classics like All I want for Christmas is You,  Yo Tannenbaum and, of course, the great Santa Baby. Tickets are priced from AED 190 including a welcome beverage.

6. See A Sparkling Tree Lighting Ceremony

Jumeirah Zabeel Saray will be lighting up their grand Christmas Tree on December 10. Welcoming the winter holidays in style, the lighting will take place from 5pm, while being serenaded by the grand choir singing festive carols.

7. Winter Wonderland At Ski Dubai

Ski Dubai has transformed into a winter wonderland this Christmas until, December 25. So, Christmas babies, if you are dreaming for a snowy Christmas, then this one is for you. Ski Dubai is promising loads of icy activities for all the family to enjoy. Kids can spend time with Santa Claus and elves while enjoying other experiences lined up for them. They will also get a gift bag and a warm cup of hot chocolate to defrost their little fingers.
