The Northern belt of India, especially the region of Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Haryana, is on fog alert. In recent times, this issue is surpassing its limits and has become an inconvenience for the locals. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning of a dense fog layer engulfing areas of Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Fog Alert For North India
The issue of the increase in fog density has resulted in lower visibility levels in North India. The locals are facing issues while driving to work and even walking through fog. Cities like Delhi have a visibility level of 25 meters. Moreover, Safdarjung has a 50 meters visibility.
However, in Bhatinda, it is reduced to zero. This has affected the traffic movements of vehicles, and people are driving with extreme caution. Also, rail and flight services are affected due to fog. Though flights are working normally, the authorities have issued an alert. Moreover, they have diverted four flights to Jaipur. At Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport, no flight took off due to poor visibility.

Amritsar and Bhatinda have zero-meter visibility and are on high alert. Though the former had an improvement, the latter is in the same condition. The issue of fog is a long-standing problem for North India. The reported stubble burning and the carbon emissions are allegedly two of the main causes of this.
However, with an increase in environmental problems, such inconveniences will be a daily occurrence.
