Connecting Gurgaon With Delhi Airport, 5 Km Flyover Proposed On Old Delhi Road

All cities are different and unique in their ways. Be it food, travel experiences, or lifestyle, multiple factors amass to make a city one-of-a-kind. However, there is a factor, rather issue commonly found in all cities and it is major traffic congestion. If travelling from point A to point B takes an hour, it is better to consider the journey to take at least 1.5 hours, owing to congestion. To ease traffic problems between Gurgaon and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, a flyover has been proposed on Old Delhi Road.

Here’s All About The Proposed Flyover On Old Delhi Road

Recently, a meeting was conducted between officials of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and Delhi International Airport Limited, according to a report by India.com. They finalised the decision to propose this flyover on the Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road. The idea is to construct a 5 km elevated road prioritising resolving traffic congestion issues between Gurgaon and the airport.

The proposal also stated that the road would be built between Atul Kataria Chowk and Samalkha. One of the major aspects of this significant project is to streamline and focus specifically on vehicles travelling toward the airport. The plan is to separate ways for all vehicles on their way to the airport from others on the road. It is likely to provide relief to commuters from major congested places.

If the plan becomes successful in reducing the much-talked-about problems of traffic, it will also simultaneously cut off the overall time taken to travel from Gurgaon to the airport. Be it travellers waiting to reach the airport or office goers commuting daily to reach their destinations, the proposed flyover on the Old Delhi road is likely to be beneficial for multiple reasons.

Nothing has been officially confirmed about the flyover. Officials are currently discussing the first stage of the proposed project. If the plan gets approval, the journey from Atul Kataria Chowk to the airport can be completed in 15 minutes. Presently, it takes at least an hour to cover this distance in the rush hours.

A senior official of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority stated about the preliminary discussions and the meeting organised recently. The key discussion was on planning steps to enhance traffic flow connecting Gurgaon and Delhi airport, according to a report by Tribune India. It is a priority to work on different connecting routes other than NH 8 as it already sees a major flow of vehicular movement.
