The much-anticipated bullet train service between Ahmedabad and Mumbai will begin operations in 2026. While we have talked about these bullet trains in detail, we cannot miss out on the infrastructure that is being developed to facilitate this train service. To keep up with these high-speed trains, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is also building stations that will leave you amazed with their features. Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, recently got to visit the Bullet Train Station in Gujarat and check out the Sabarmati Multimodal Hub. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Sabarmati Station Of Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train
Kamiya Jani visited the Sabarmati Bullet Train Station in Gujarat. This under-construction station in Sabarmati is home to the first multimodal hub in this train route and is officially named the Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub. This multimodal hub will seamlessly connect Sabarmati Railway Stations, Metro Station, under-construction Sabarmati HSR Station, and the Bus Rapid Transport System.
Like most stations on this route, the Sabarmati Multimodal Hub is also thematic. Keeping up with Sabarmati’s history, the facade of this station depicts the Dandi March movement. It has massive murals, made with stainless steel, that will give travellers an insight into the city’s rich history. The facade looks awe-inspiring at night with beautiful backlighting around the murals.
By August 2026, a significant part of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train will become operational. The entire project is likely to open to the public by 2028.
Everything You Need To Know About The Sabarmati Multimodal Hub
The Sabarmati Multimodal Hub will be much more than a transport hub! It will have world-class amenities like multi-level parking, retail shops, hotels, conference rooms, and even banquet halls. The hub will have a concourse at the third-floor level. This level will offer amenities like waiting lounges, retail options, and restaurants for passengers.
Besides the beautiful Dandi March facade, the aesthetic appeal of the Sabarmati Multimodal Hub is elevated by the rooftop garden here. The authorities have added a variety of indigenous plants on the rooftop here and it’s simply stunning. This under-construction station will also have dedicated pick-up and drop-off bays. Coming to the multi-level parking, it is reported that the parking lot at the hub will be able to accommodate around 1300 vehicles.
The NHSRCL has also added several sustainable practices to the Sabarmati Multimodal Hub. From solar panels on the terraces and extensively landscaped terraces and gardens to energy-efficient fixtures – this hub will have it all.
This sure looks like a transport hub fit for high-speed bullet trains! What are your thoughts on this hub in Sabarmati? Let us know in the comments!
