When you think of Honey Singh, you probably think of chartbusters, flashy videos, and packed concerts. But there’s more to the rapper than his larger-than-life stage persona. In an exclusive chat with Curly Tales’s Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani, Honey Singh got real about his food cravings, fitness routine, musical roots, and love for Delhi’s street food — all from the comfort of his vanity van.

“Desi Audiences Are Wild & Wonderful,” Says Honey Singh

Having spent nearly two decades on stage, Honey Singh knows a thing or two about reading the crowd. And according to him, no one does it like the desi janta. “Indian audiences are the wildest and the best,” he said. “International crowds enjoy music calmly, systematically. But when Indians vibe, they go all in. We make artists feel special — like they’re one of us.”

And nowhere is this truer than in Delhi. “Delhi is unmatched,” said Honey Singh. “When they see me, they don’t see a celebrity. They see their own brother, their own guy from the neighbourhood. They’ve seen my journey.”

Despite being back on his fitness grind, Honey Singh admitted that food still rules his heart. “I was on a strict diet for two years,” he shared. “Now I’ve started working out again, and since I’m gaining, carbs are back on the menu!” His go-to indulgences? Butter chicken, for starters.

But the real highlight is a lesser-known gem from Karampura. “That’s where I was born. There’s a small tandoori chicken shop there — it’s my favourite,” he smiled. “Whenever I’m in Delhi, I go there first.” According to Honey Singh, Delhi beats Punjab in the street food game hands down.”Outside of Amritsar and Ludhiana, Punjab’s street food is average. But Delhi? You get every kind of flavour imaginable.”

Independent Music Over Bollywood? Always.

While his Bollywood collabs brought him mass fame, Honey Singh remains loyal to his indie roots. “Independent music made me who I am,” he said. “Bollywood was a bonus — a blessing. I’m grateful to legends like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar who gave me opportunities. But it’s my singles that shaped my identity.”

Even when given a choice between live concerts and studio time, Honey Singh chose the latter. “Studio recordings are where I feel most in control and creative,” he said. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love performing. In fact, he’s all set to rock the stage again — this time, with a full plate of carbs and confidence.
