5 Bangalore Updates For Today
1. Akasa Air Suspends Flight Operations From Bangalore
Flights from Bangalore to Chennai and Hyderabad have been cancelled by Akasa Air due to operational concerns. As a result of the abrupt cancellation of several flights on the two routes, travellers who had purchased tickets in advance are waiting for refunds. In the upcoming days, the airline is probably going to stop operating more flights out of Bangalore. Despite many passengers having purchased tickets on the route, sources at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) confirmed that an Akasa Air Bangalore-Hyderabad flight was unexpectedly suspended weeks ago.
2. Waterlogging In Bangalore Due To Heavy Rainfall
Why not consider implementing a water pool charge instead of just a congestion tax? Driving in the rain on Bangalore’s roadways is a lot of fun. @CMofKarnataka

The rain caused problems throughout the city and rewrote the waterlogging story, notably in East Bangalore. As the water began to gradually recede on Tuesday, there were still significant traffic backups on the Outer Ring Road and nearby streets. Following heavy rains that hit Bangalore on Monday evening, several of the city’s roads were flooded, which made driving difficult on Tuesday morning. Some of the highways also experienced slow vehicular traffic as a result of the water on the roads.

BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) feeder buses that will run between KR Puram metro station and the Silk Board Junction on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) were flagged off by Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Tuesday. The introduction of Metro feeder buses followed the operationalisation of the Kengeri-Challaghatta and Baiyappanahalli-KR Puram Metro Purple Line segments by BMRCL.
4. Companies Want To Buy Metro Smart Cards In Bulk For Employees
On Wednesday, executives from several prestigious enterprises along the Outer Ring Road joined together with community activists and other stakeholders to encourage the use of public transport by their employees. At the KR Puram Metro station, the corporate executives and other authorities boarded a recently introduced BMTC feeder bus with the transport minister Ramalinga Reddy and other officials. Numerous businesses along the ORR have already begun negotiations with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited about purchasing large quantities of smart cards for their employees to encourage the usage of public transport.
5. Need For A Second Airport
The owner of the Kempegowda International Airport has urged the Karnataka government to begin the process of identifying property for a second airport because the current one is anticipated to handle 92 million passengers at full capacity by 2032–2033. There are currently two terminals used by the Bangalore Airport. The managing director of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) cautioned the government and pleaded with it to start the process of building a second airport right away.
