Dubai To Build Giant Spaceship-Shaped Art Park, Spanning 10Km At The Margham Desert

Dubai is aiming straight for global-level projects. A spaceship-shaped cultural landmark, connected by 10 kilometres of flowing desert artwork, is set to grace the Margham desert, Dubai. Get ready to witness one of the world’s most ambitious outdoor art destinations in the UAE.

Dubai’s Desert To Get A Giant ‘Spaceship’ Artwork, Set To Be One Of The World’s Largest

Say hello to CLIO Desert Park, a long-term cultural vision built to attract people into the desert. The project was unveiled at Dubai Harbour Yacht Club. According to Gulf News, the launch drew an unexpected mix of global football legends, artists, architects, and cultural figures. Names like Roberto Baggio, Fabio Cannavaro, Francesco Totti and David Trezeguet were hooked

Art That Moves Like A River Across The Desert

At the heart of the project sits a massive installation. It’s the brainchild of international contemporary artist Agron Hoti. The artwork stretches across 25,000 authenticated modules, each measuring two metres by two metres. Together, they form a continuous canvas that runs 10 kilometres long and 10 metres wide.

Restorer and conservator Cinzia Pasquali describes it best, calling it a river inside the desert. Visually, it’s exactly as described,  something fluid and unexpected.

The Spaceship At The Centre

The entire experience is anchored by a circular, two-level structure known as CLIO House. Designed by architect Matteo Antonelli.  Inspired by the spaceship for the design element, the cultural centre will host exhibitions, talks, artist residencies, and collaborative projects.

Backed By Big Names

XDubai locally backs up the initiative, while Skydive Dubai will offer aerial experiences that let visitors see the artwork from overhead. Dubai Film is also producing a documentary that tracks the journey of the upcoming project.

Shamal Holding has offered the land for the project and wants to ensure long-term stability for the project.
