10. Qatar Airways Becomes First Airline To Operate Starlink-Equipped Boeing 787-9
Qatar Airways has become the first airline in the world to operate Starlink-equipped Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The airline has also completed the Starlink rollout across its Boeing 787-8 fleet in seven months, taking its total number of Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft to 150.
Qatar Airways is on track to complete the Starlink rollout across its Boeing 787 fleet by the end of 2026. The airline says passengers can access Wi-Fi speeds of up to 500 Mbps, allowing them to work, stay connected with loved ones and enjoy online entertainment while flying.
Since launching Starlink connectivity in October 2024, more than 23 million passengers have connected to the service across more than 86,000 Qatar Airways flights. The airline’s widebody installation programme is now more than 83% complete, with up to 323 Starlink-equipped flights operating daily.
